An air ambulance is very vital for providing emergency medical services in areas where normal ambulance cannot reach. It is often considered to be the fastest method of reaching the accident scene. It is also is beneficial for patients located at a distant area where air transportation forms the only option. Air ambulance crews are provided with every kind of modern equipment enabling them to provide immediate attention to severely injured or critical patients. Some of the commonly used equipments include ECG monitoring units, medication, ventilators, stretchers and CPR equipments. Although, air ambulances have been very effective in saving lives of hundreds, there are several changes continuously faced in this regard. The increasing number of air ambulance crashes form mainly related to helicopters has been one of such problems. Such crashes make it mandatory to improve on the standards of such air ambulances. Cost effectiveness of air ambulances have also been a question for the governing bodies.
